Each month Kingdoms in the Wild will feature poetry and original short fiction on the website. We are looking for works from emerging and established writers, works that push boundaries of emotion and imagination in new and exciting ways.

What makes your work unique, is it your writing style, your strong voice? Is it the cadence and rhythm that is distinctly your own, do your poems enrapture the reader? Do they raise questions and inspire thought long after the poem is over? These are the kinds of works we are looking for at KITW.
ORIGINAL SHORT & MICRO FICTION

At this time KITW is looking for new original flash and short fiction that would fit the Literary, YA, Fantasy and Scifi Genres. We want work that is raw, diverting and gut wrenching in the best way possible. KITW is interested in experimental works including afro-futurist genre and other works. Not sure if your work fits the criteria? Send it anyway and we will get back to you.

Crime / Murder fiction
Extremely graphic or violent works
Works that were previously published on other venues including personal blogs.
Kingdoms in the Wild is aware of the lack of visibility of works by writers and artist from diverse cultures and backgrounds across the globe and is expressly interested in fostering an environment in which such works are encouraged. Kingdoms in the Wild is currently looking for novella works in the literary, Science Fiction & Fantasy genre between 20,000 and 40,000 words from emerging authors. At this time KITW is looking for works that are modeled on worlds or experiences that draw inspiration from outside mainstream European cultures. Only works that fall within the spectrum indigenous and diasporic cultures from across the globe, and works that feature main characters and protagonists from said cultures will be considered at this time.

Kingdoms in the Wild will also consider picture book manuscripts by artists and illustrators featuring children’s stories with diverse characters and protagonists.

To be considered the novella submission must be an original work fitting the above requirements, and cannot have been published at any other venue including self-publishing. We are currently accepting simultaneous submissions, however, if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere please immediately withdraw it from KITW.
